Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr. Reema Karami met with a delegation from the Rafic Hariri Foundation, led by Dr. Farah Tamim, to discuss the forcible occupation of Rafic Hariri Secondary School II and Lycée Abdel Kader. The delegation continues to make unilateral decisions regarding the admission of displaced families and the management of the occupied buildings.
Dr. Karami described the hardship faced by both schools, noting that their facilities, contents, and equipment have once again suffered significant damage and losses. This marks the second time the schools have endured such circumstances, as they were previously occupied and severely affected during the last conflict.

The institution’s director revealed, “We tried to protect the laboratories and several classrooms, but it didn’t work.”
Minister Karami affirmed “her continued follow-up on the matter and her ongoing efforts with the Disaster Management Authority at the Council of Ministers to relocate the displaced persons to other safe areas, especially since the Zoqaq al-Blat area is no longer safe after being targeted several times.”
She noted that she “will intensify efforts to ensure that the displaced are relocated from there to other places that guarantee their safety until the aggression subsides.”
