Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East for the Greek Orthodox conveyed his condolences to the faithful of the Antiochian Church on the passing of Catholicos-Patriarch of Georgia Ilia II, through a message he sent to the locum tenens of the Georgian Patriarchate, Bishop Shio, stating:
We received with deep sorrow the news of the passing of our brother, Catholicos and Patriarch of Georgia, Ilia II. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the faithful of the Georgian Church and pray to the Lord God for the repose of his soul.
